Biography

Gary Sowerby served an Engineering Apprenticeship from 1955 with the Dowty Group, Cheltenham, followed by a few years as a Junior Engineer in the Merchant Navy. From May 1965 until taking early retirement in November 1997, he worked for Spirax-Sarco Limited, Cheltenham.

During this period of thirty-three years, he became a Member of the Institute of Energy in September 1970, was appointed Chartered Engineer in February 1972 and in March 1980 registered the title of European Engineer - Eur Ing.

Since his retirement, he has been running his own Consultancy Company, JGS Associates Limited, giving technical advice on Process Steam Distribution and Condensate Return Systems, together with its Associated Control Equipment.

At the same time, he has arranged On-site Lectures and Training for various Process Steam Companies in the Food, Drinks, Pharmaceutical and Leather Industries as well as major Hospital NHS Trust, MOD and Power Station sites.
